In facing one of the most difficult times in my life, I realized my values are what make me strong and what guide me through every challenge.
In 2020, everything changed for my family. My dad passed away unexpectedly, and suddenly I not only had to navigate my own grief, but also take care of my mom, who is legally blind, and my grandmother, who was living with her and needed daily care. There was so much to balance—being a caregiver, selling my dad’s business, and overseeing their affairs—all while raising my two kids, Caylee and Colby, and running my real estate business.
At the time, we had just finished building our dream home and had renovated our barndominium to create a comfortable living space. That barndominium ended up being a blessing, as it provided a home for my mom and grandmother close by. While it was a huge adjustment for all of us, having that space allowed me to support them while managing everything else.
After months of managing both my mom’s and grandmother’s care, we made the difficult decision to place my grandmother in a home. She passed away in 2023, and while that was another painful loss, I’m grateful for the time we had together. My mom continues to live in the renovated barndominium, close to our family. We are also blessed to have my sister-in-law (also a fire wife) and mother-in-law here to help us through the challenges and sometimes unpredictable schedules that can come up. Having them nearby is truly a blessing for our family.
Just as we were adjusting to these changes, my husband Clint, a firefighter, was involved in a serious accident. His fire truck rolled over, and he broke his neck, which left him facing months of recovery. The support of our firefighter family, who showed us an outpouring of love and care, really helped us through. Clint has since recovered and returned to work, and we’ve found a sense of normalcy again.
Even through the hardest times, my faith reminds me there is always a greater purpose. Patience has been one of the biggest lessons I’ve learned through this chapter, especially when juggling my responsibilities as a mom, wife, caregiver, and real estate agent. I’m more adaptable now, understanding that unexpected challenges will come up and that it's how you respond that matters most.
We’ve also been reminded of our most central family values. Helping people and serving others are at the core of who we are. My mom has always been a role model for me in this. Her resilience and grace through life’s challenges have shown me what it means to care for others and to lead with compassion.
These lessons in patience, resilience, and putting others first have shaped the way I am approaching the next chapter of my life. I’m more focused, intentional, and ready to grow with those values in mind. I’ve learned I’m stronger than I ever thought, and this has translated to my work. I serve as an advocate for my clients, fighting for their best interests and ensuring they are 100% supported every step of the way. I don’t just want to help others—I feel it’s my responsibility to do so! I’m excited to keep growing, learning, and using these experiences to build something lasting for my family and the community we’re part of.
In our free time, my family and I love being outdoors. We go on camping trips, ride trails in our side-by-side, and love beach vacations. My daughter Caylee plays competitive basketball, and my son Colby loves fishing, so our trips often revolve around their passions. Whether we’re on an adventure or just relaxing with friends and family, these moments are what keep us grounded and remind us how blessed we are.
When I first started my real estate career in 2008, during the height of the financial crisis, the market was in chaos—foreclosures and short sales were everywhere, and the uncertainty was overwhelming for both buyers and sellers. However, I saw it as an opportunity to develop skills that would serve me long-term. Navigating such a difficult market taught me patience, problem-solving, and how to stay calm under pressure. I had to learn quickly how to guide clients through complex transactions, helping them make informed decisions in the most challenging circumstances. Those early years gave me a deep understanding of market fluctuations and how to adapt, which has been invaluable as I've built my career.
As a mom and wife, I understand how the needs of a family evolve, from needing more space to finding the right neighborhood, and I use that to better guide my clients through the process. Being part of a firefighter family also gives me a unique insight into the challenges first responders face, and my experience helping my grandmother transition into care inspired me to work with more seniors. I enjoy forming genuine connections with my clients, bringing compassion, patience, and understanding to the process, ensuring they feel supported every step of the way!
